The Green Turtle Preschool is a thoughtfully designed early learning space that offers young children a place to grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love for learning. Built on the philosophy that education should nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—The Green Turtle provides a safe, happy, and stimulating environment that supports the unique needs of each learner.
At the heart of The Green Turtle is a commitment to delivering high-quality education through a combination of Montessori and Play-Based methodologies. These two approaches work hand in hand to create a learning environment that is not only academically enriching but also emotionally and socially responsive. The educators at the preschool understand that each child is different and believe in celebrating those differences by providing diverse opportunities for engagement and discovery.
The Green Turtle stands out not only for its strong educational foundation but also for the passion and vision of its founders, Krupali Mongia and Pooja Jeejeebhoy.
Krupali, affectionately known as Kuki, holds a degree in Philosophy from Sophia College, Mumbai, along with a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education. She previously ran a successful venture in Mumbai called Koala Club before moving to Pune and co-founding The Green Turtle. Her approach is grounded in deep empathy and a nuanced understanding of how children think, feel, and learn.
Pooja, a former banker, was driven by the desire to create a nurturing, home-like environment for young children. With a Diploma in Montessori from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) in the Netherlands, Pooja brings a strong foundation in child-centered education. Together, the founders have created more than just a preschool—they’ve built a space where curiosity is welcomed, creativity is encouraged, and every child is treated with care and respect.
The Green Turtle’s learning environment is structured around the understanding that children have different learning preferences, strengths, and developmental timelines. The curriculum is not one-size-fits-all. Instead, it adapts to the child—allowing each learner to progress at a pace that feels natural and rewarding to them.
Montessori methods provide structure, independence, and a tangible connection to real-world concepts. Children work with hands-on materials in key areas such as Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture. These activities are designed to build concentration, coordination, and confidence.
Complementing this is the Play-Based approach, which sees play as a powerful tool for exploration and growth. Through play, children engage their imagination, develop social skills, and make sense of the world around them. This combination creates a rich, balanced experience where fun and learning are not separate, but deeply connected.
Every element of The Green Turtle—from its classroom layouts to its learning tools—is created with intentionality. The preschool offers a multi-sensory, real-world learning experience where children are encouraged to touch, feel, move, and discover. This environment supports natural curiosity and independence, offering children the space to make choices and learn through trial and error.
Educators at The Green Turtle act as guides rather than instructors. They observe closely, understand each child’s unique developmental path, and provide the right resources and encouragement at the right time. The emphasis is not only on academic knowledge but also on emotional well-being, social development, and creative expression.
Art, music, movement, and outdoor play are embedded into the daily schedule. These activities are not treated as “extras” but as essential parts of a child’s learning experience. Whether through storytelling, singing, building, or painting, children are constantly engaged in meaningful, joyful learning.
The Green Turtle offers a range of programs designed for children from infancy to age six, allowing families to choose what suits their child’s stage of development best.
Parent Toddler Program (7–18 months)
Held twice a week, this program offers a joyful and enriching experience for both parent and child. Through music, movement, and sensory activities, infants begin their learning journey in a warm, safe environment that strengthens early language and motor development while building secure attachment.
Playgroup (18 months–3 years)
Running daily in morning slots, the Playgroup introduces young children to the preschool setting. It helps them transition gently from home to school, encouraging separation with comfort and care. The program supports language development, coordination, and social skills through guided play and exploration.
Nursery (3–4 years)
Nursery learners engage in hands-on activities that promote literacy, numeracy, and creative expression. The program is designed to build self-confidence and encourage teamwork, as children learn about the world around them through observation, inquiry, and imaginative play.
Junior and Senior KG (4–6 years)
As the children grow, so does the depth and structure of their learning. The curriculum for these levels integrates early academics with co-scholastic experiences like dance, fitness, art, and music. With a strong foundation in Montessori principles, these classrooms offer opportunities for deeper understanding while continuing to value the role of play and imagination.
This stage is also where the school introduces more structured elements—always in ways that support the child’s interests and readiness. Educators encourage exploration of broader concepts and help children build the skills they need for formal schooling and beyond.
At The Green Turtle, learning doesn’t stop at academics. It’s a place where emotional intelligence, kindness, and collaboration are cultivated each day. Children are encouraged to listen, empathize, share, and resolve conflicts with respect. These early lessons in community living lay the groundwork for strong interpersonal skills and character development.
Parents are viewed as partners in the learning journey. Regular updates, open communication, and collaborative activities ensure that families remain closely connected with their child’s progress and school life.
Families choose The Green Turtle not just for its curriculum, but for the thoughtful way in which that curriculum is delivered. The preschool offers a gentle, caring, and responsive setting where children feel seen, heard, and valued. It’s a space where learning is a natural outcome of joyful living.
By blending Montessori structure with the freedom of play, and grounding it all in real-world relevance and emotional safety, The Green Turtle gives children a truly holistic start to their educational path.
For those seeking an environment where learning is child-led, developmentally appropriate, and full of wonder, The Green Turtle is a place where every small step is met with encouragement—and every milestone is celebrated with joy.
